Cathode-ray tube television

 

The feature of a cathode-ray tube television is a low price. Compared with the thin shape television set of the same size also on television corresponding to digital Hi-Vision, price is about from half to one third. Old television was projecting the image on the screen called a “cathode-ray tube.” The display of a cathode-ray tube can be called in the abbreviation “CRT.” It is easy to watch screen of a cathode-ray tube compared with the liquid crystal television and plasma television which are displayed per dot. And since flattery nature is good to an animation, it is gentle to eyes. But since the cathode-ray tube is large compared with flat television set, it is difficult to make for a big screen (mean in volume). And the television of the cathode-ray tube was large and heavy compared with the present-day liquid crystal television, and carrying and installation were difficult.

 

 

Liquid crystal display

 

From the second half of 1990, the “liquid crystal television” and a “liquid crystal display” begin to appear. And after going into the 2000 year, the liquid crystal television became popular. A liquid crystal television uses the liquid crystal panel which has developed as a display of a personal computer for the display of television. At the time of release, dark in screen, eye is coarse, motion is blunt, tone is thin, if what moves at high speed is projected, an afterimage will be remained, if it sees from across, image quality fall off, viewing angle is narrow, it becomes immediately useless (it becomes dark) etc. – The system was not suited. Combined use of a cathode-ray tube and a liquid crystal display continued for a while. However, these faults are improved rapidly. Compared with a cathode-ray tube, thin and light, a place is not taken, low power consumption and big screen. – There is also a said good point and, now, it is becoming a typical system of television.

 

 

Plasma display

Newer television “plasma television” has appeared from 2003. From the first, plasma television is used as a display for indicating the personal computer screen etc. It has the advantage. It is thin and light like a liquid crystal television, but compared with a liquid crystal display, tone is good, projects what moves in display, an afterimage cannot be remained easily, and it is easy to see from across. However, it also has bad points. Power consumption is large, it is heavy, the fan is attached and it is noisy, very expensive, to make a big screen has a limit (since surface glass is not allowed distortion with a plank). – It is pushed a little by a liquid crystal television. Since improvement of a liquid crystal television also followed and image quality became good just like plasma television, the advantage of plasma television was lost gradually. Since plasma television has the advantage that cost seldom becomes high even if it enlarges it, on large-size television, it is often used. However, in small television and display, plasma television is already produced hardly.
